ESMEE – Enabling Societal Missions through Entrepreneurial Ecosystems

Homepage

Welcome to the ESMEE project website – a research initiative working towards improving regional conditions for sustainable entrepreneurship.

As we strive towards societal missions like transitioning towards a renewable energy system or sustainable agriculture, radical innovations by entrepreneurs are crucial. At ESMEE, we take a data-and-dialogue driven ecosystem approach to help understand the conditions that help sustainable entrepreneurship thrive.

Our team of researchers conduct scientific analyses of the mechanisms of ecosystem development and how sustainable entrepreneurship contributes to societal missions. We provide scientifically validated diagnoses and evaluations of ecosystem development to help policymakers across the Netherlands Regional Development Agencies make informed decisions around entrepreneurship.

Through our learning community we design policy avenues and disseminate knowledge to our societal partners. Our project was co-designed and co-created with researchers from Utrecht University, the Rathenau Instituut, The Hague University of Applied Sciences, together with all Regional Development Agencies in the Netherlands.

Explore our website to learn more about our project and how you can get involved.
